कल ही तो सीखा था आपके आँगन मैं चलना मैंने,
अभी कल ही तो सीखा था बोलना मैंने,
जब आपजे हांथों मैं छुप जाते थे मेरे छोटे से दोनों हाँथ।
आज जा रहीं हूँ एक नए आँगन को सजाने,
आज अपने हांथों की मेहँदी से,
जा रहीं हूँ एक नए घर को महकाने।
आज लगता है समय बीत गया इतनी जल्दी क्यों?
पापा मैं छोटी से नदी हो गयी क्यों?
होती थी मेरे दिन की सुबह ही जब माँ से,
करते शैतानी गुजरता था दिन,
जब रात का मतलब होता था सुनना परियों की कहानी बाबा-दादी से,
जब सीमित थी मेरी दुनिया गुड्डे, गुड़ियों में बस।
आज उनकी परी को भी लेजा रहा है एक राजकुमार,
अब जा रही हूँ बसाने अपनी दुनिया नयी,
जहाँ सुबह का मतलब अब होगा एक नया दिन।
पर आपके लिए हमेशा मैं आपकी छोटी सी परी ही हूँ,
बस सोचती हूँ, कुछ दिन और रह जाती मैं आपजे पास।
मुझे भेजने की इतनी जल्दी थी क्यों?
पापा मैं छोटी से बड़ी हो गयी क्यों?

Your words resonate with every married girl’s feeling at the time of her wedding. Though these days, the feeling has got slightly diluted as girls move out of home for work and education. Yet your words were very strong and emotional.
Thanks Anupriya, This was written around 8 years back even before my marriage and is very close to me. Perhaps girls don’t feel as strongly as the poem is, but isn’t this the fact of life? and the forever question- why is it like this? Why a girl moves out of her parent’s life and care for her rest of the life? why her, why not boys? Thanks for reading. 🙂
